TECHNICAL TIPS

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!
this is an excerpt from the articles appearing in the EAGLE

Google

OK, that said, I'll recount quickly my experience with changing the spark plugs on my Firebird with the LT1 engine. I decided to change the plugs on mine since the car wasn't running too well. So, off I go.

Well, after 2 1/2 hours, numerous different socket extensions, u- joints, and 1 broken plug, I managed to get 7 of them changed. It was not worth the effort, and as I was often reminded, the original plugs are good for 100,000 miles

Why did I do it? Well, maybe it was a growing experience of some kind! I got to some of them from the top, some from the bottom, and some from BOTH! Seriously, I even literally sat on top of my motor to get my arm down to the ones on the passenger side of the car because the air pump and AC unit (I think that's what it was) were in the way, and I couldn't get to them. The one I did not remove was the back one on the passenger side. The exhaust manifold just wouldn't let me get to it.

I broke the one on the rear of the driver's side. On those, at the front one I reached from the top, then next 2 from the bottom, and the rear from both. Once I broke the ceramic off, it was much easier to get to since I could use a normal socket then! Not much else to tell. My long arms really had a hard time reaching any of the plugs. I was working blindly the entire time... Not fun!
