Restoring Wheels

I’d like to pass along a tip I experienced on restoring brushed aluminum snowflake wheels.

First, you can get them done professionally for around $50-100 each. So I decided to do it myself.

Guess what? I restored my wheels for a grand total of $8.50. That’s right. $8.50!!

Two products I used were EAGLE ONE brand "never-dull" wadding polish. I polished each wheel five times until it brought back the luster. It worked! Next I went over the old gold trim with a real fine sandpaper, and then the big surprise. I looked all over for gold paint. I went even to auto shops and pro paint shops.

They all told me the same thing. They should be masked and spray painted. I then by coincidence went to my SEARS store and found exactly what I was looking for.... A half-pint of "Sears Best bright accent metallic gold enamel" for all metals. It took me painstakingly 2 hours a wheel to paint, but the results were awesome.

So for the price of $8.50 and plenty of hard but enjoyable work I got my wheels looking really great I just thought I’d share this experience with you and fellow members.
