TECHNICAL TIPS

Another Headlight Fix by Terry S.
this is an excerpt from the articles appearing in the EAGLE

Google

My wife has a ‘91 we bought new in November 1990, still a beautiful car with 55K miles.

Several years ago the right headlight decided it didn’t want to go all the way up (or down for that matter) I pulled the drive motor out and disassembled the drive mechanism. Inside I found the remains of the plastic rollers. So off to the local junk yard to find some, very few, but did find enough to fix it that time.

Not too long after that the other side died. I knew I didn’t have the parts to fix this one and really didn’t want to look through several junk yards again.

I had a drawer open on my tool box and just happened to look down at it, in that drawer were 5 or 6 glue sticks for my hot glue gun. What the heck, they are plastic, they are the right diameter, so I took a carpet knife and sliced off 3 pieces the same length as the original ones, put them in the drive assembly and they work like a champ.

They have been in there for several years and still going strong. Just thought you might want to pass this on as you can make quite a few replacements out of one 30 cent hot glue stick.
